Utah's covered load law and the fees for uncovered loads
Salt Lake County quotes Utah Code 72-7-410(2): a driver using a landfill must keep the load securely covered from where it starts until it is deposited. Securely covered means completely covered by a solid barrier that keeps the load from blowing, spilling or falling. (source: Salt Lake County)
- Salt Lake Valley Landfill: since January 1, 2026, an additional fee equal to the disposal price.
- North Pointe (Lindon): double charge, $13.00 minimum and $50.00 maximum.
- South Utah Valley (Spanish Fork): $25.00 fee per 8 feet of length.
