Backflow prevention and testing
Utah DEQ's Division of Drinking Water says public drinking water systems are contaminated each year by pollutants that backflow through unprotected cross connections. The state certifies backflow testers and program administrators. (source: Utah Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Drinking Water)
The rules are Utah Admin. Code R309-105-12 (cross connection control for public water systems) and R309-305 (backflow certification programs). Utah has adopted the International Plumbing Code, which also covers cross connection control. (source: Utah Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Drinking Water)
Your water provider sets local testing requirements. Ask it whether your sprinkler backflow device must be tested and by when.
