LG refrigerator codes
Safety: Owner checks only. Do not open the sealed refrigerant system, remove electrical covers, or bypass parts. Compressor and refrigerant work needs a licensed technician.
Er CO (also shown as CO): Communication error
Er CO is a communication error between the main control board and the display. It can follow a power surge or a loose harness connection.
Likely causes- Power surge or outage
- Loose wiring between the display and main board
- Display or main board fault
- Unplug the fridge for 5 minutes and restart.
- Plug directly into a wall outlet with no extension cord.
- The code returns after the restart

Er FF (also shown as E FF, FF): Freezer fan error
Er FF (or E FF) means a fault with the freezer fan that circulates cold air. LG notes a blocked fan makes the compressor overwork and temperatures rise. Frost or ice blocking the fan is a common cause.
Likely causes- Ice or frost blocking the freezer fan
- Door left open or not sealing
- Failed freezer fan motor
- Make sure the freezer door closes fully and the gasket seals.
- Unplug for 5 minutes and restart. If frost is visible, a full defrost with doors open (towels down) can clear an iced fan.
- Keep food cold in a cooler meanwhile.
- The code returns after a defrost
- The freezer will not hold temperature
Manufacturer sources: LG USA: Refrigerator digital and analog error codes. Checked October 27, 2026.
Er IF (also shown as IF): Ice maker fan error
Er IF means a malfunction in the ice maker fan, which moves cold air from the freezer to the ice maker. If it is blocked, ice making slows or stops.
Likely causes- Ice buildup around the ice maker fan
- Ice maker compartment door not sealing
- Failed ice maker fan motor
- Check the ice compartment door seal for frost or gaps.
- Note whether the ice maker is still producing ice.
- LG lists this as a service code; request service if it persists.
- The code stays on
- Ice production has stopped

Er dH (also shown as dH, FdH, dHF): Defrost heater error
Er dH means the defrost sensor did not warm by more than 5°C within 80 minutes of starting defrost. LG says the evaporator may be blocked by ice and the defrost heater, thermal fuse or relay may have failed, or the drain may be clogged.
Likely causes- Failed defrost heater or thermal fuse
- Heater relay fault
- Clogged defrost drain
- Heavy ice on the evaporator coils
- Look for frost on the back wall of the freezer and water or ice under the crisper drawers.
- Move food to coolers if temperatures rise.
- LG lists this as a service code; a manual defrost may help temporarily but the part usually needs replacing.
- Any time this code appears
- Frost keeps coming back after a manual defrost
Manufacturer sources: LG USA: Refrigerator digital and analog error codes. Checked October 27, 2026.
Er gF (also shown as gF): Water flow sensor error
Er gF indicates a problem with the water flow sensor. LG says it can be caused by a closed water tap, a kinked hose or incorrect water pressure.
Likely causes- Water supply valve closed
- Kinked water line behind the fridge
- Water pressure out of range
- Flow sensor fault
- Unplug the fridge for 60 seconds, then plug it directly into a wall outlet and wait up to 5 minutes for it to restart.
- Make sure the water valve is fully open and water reaches the fridge.
- Pull the fridge out carefully and check the line for kinks.
- Water supply is fine and the code continues

LG washer codes
Safety: Unplug the washer before touching the pump filter, hoses or drum. Water left inside can be hot and heavy, so put towels down first.
FF: Freeze failure
FF means the washer got below about 1°C (34°F) and water in the hoses or pump may be frozen. Controls stay disabled until the machine warms back up. This can happen in unheated garages and laundry rooms in winter.
Likely causes- Washer in an unheated garage or room during a cold snap
- Water left in the drain hose or pump
- Pour warm (not boiling) water, about 120 to 140°F, into the empty drum, close the door, and wait 1 to 2 hours.
- Open the lower access cover, drain water from the drain tube, and close the cap securely.
- Run a Rinse and Spin to confirm it works. If IE appears, thaw the inlet hoses with warm water.
- To prevent it, drain the hoses and pump before a freeze if the washer sits in an unheated space.
- FF appears when it is not cold
- A hose or valve cracked from freezing and is leaking

IE (also shown as E02, E10): Water inlet error
IE (E02 or E10 on some models) means the tub did not fill to the right level in time. The water may be off, the hose kinked or frozen, or the inlet filter clogged.
Likely causes- Water faucet closed or hose not connected
- Kinked supply hose
- Frozen faucet or supply hose in cold weather
- Clogged inlet filter screen
- Low water pressure (LG specifies 14.5 to 116 psi)
- Faulty water inlet valve
- Open both faucets fully and make sure the hoses are connected.
- Straighten any bent supply hose.
- With the faucets off, disconnect the hose at the washer and clean the inlet filter.
- In winter, check for frozen hoses. LG suggests a hot wet towel around the faucet for 5 minutes and warm (not boiling) water on the hose.
- Water flows from the faucet but the washer still will not fill
- You suspect a failed inlet valve

LE: Motor locked (tub will not spin)
LE means the tub failed to spin because the motor cannot operate properly, usually from an overloaded washer or a foreign object stuck in the tub.
Likely causes- Overloaded washer
- Coin or other object stuck between the drum and tub
- Motor strain or fault
- Unplug the washer for 5 minutes and try again.
- Reduce the load size; use the Bedding cycle for heavy items.
- With the power off and the drum empty, look for coins or objects and remove them.
- LE keeps returning on normal loads
- You hear grinding or the drum feels rough when turned by hand

OE (also shown as E03, E21): Drain error
OE (E03 or E21 on some newer models) means the washer cannot drain the water from the cycle. LG lists a kinked drain hose or a clogged drain pump filter as the usual causes. Too many suds can also trigger it.
Likely causes- Kinked or clogged drain hose
- Clogged drain pump filter
- Excess suds creating air pockets in the pump
- Frozen drain hose in a cold garage or basement
- Failed drain pump
- Check behind the washer for a kinked or clogged drain hose.
- Run a spin-only cycle and listen for the pump humming during the first 15 seconds.
- If it hums, unplug the washer, drain the residual water through the small drain tube, and clean the drain pump filter.
- Run a Tub Clean cycle and cut back on detergent if suds are the problem.
- No humming during the spin test (the pump may have failed)
- The filter is clean and OE keeps returning

PE: Water level sensor error
PE means the water level sensor is not working correctly, so the washer cannot tell how much water is in the tub.
Likely causes- Water level (pressure) sensor fault
- Loose sensor connection or blocked sensor hose
- Unplug the washer for 10 seconds.
- Plug it back in and restart the cycle.
- PE persists after the reset (LG says the unit will need repair service)

UE (also shown as uE): Unbalanced load
UE means the laundry is piled to one side and the washer could not balance it to spin. A small uE on top loaders means it is still trying to rebalance by adding water and redistributing.
Likely causes- Bulky single items like blankets, rugs or pillows
- Load too large or too small
- Washer not level
- Pause, take the laundry out, and spread it evenly in the drum.
- Add a couple of similar items to a very small load.
- LG suggests filling the drum about two thirds full and using the Duvet or Bedding cycle for blankets.
- Level the washer so all four feet are firm on the floor.
- UE on normal balanced loads
- Loud banging or the washer moving during spin

dE (also shown as dE1, dE2, E01, E30): Door lock error
dE means the door could not lock. dE1 means the door is not closed properly; dE2 means it is closed but not locked, often from clothes caught in the gasket or a bent latch.
Likely causes- Laundry caught between the door and gasket
- Overloaded drum
- Bent or broken door latch
- Door lock fault
- Open the door, clear any clothes, and close it firmly.
- LG reset: power off, unplug or flip the breaker, hold Start/Pause for 5 seconds, then restore power and try again.
- The code keeps coming back after the reset
- The latch is visibly bent or broken

LG dryer codes
Safety: Unplug the dryer before moving it or cleaning the duct. On a gas dryer, do not disconnect or work on the gas line, valve or burner. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas company from outside. Never bypass or jumper a thermal fuse.
d90 (also shown as d80, d95): Restricted airflow (Flow Sense)
d80, d90 and d95 mean LG's Flow Sense detected a blocked exhaust duct, about 80, 90 or 95 percent restricted. LG warns that using a dryer with a severely restricted exhaust may be unsafe.
Likely causes- Lint buildup in the duct or outside hood
- Crushed, kinked or coiled flexible duct behind the dryer
- Outside vent flaps stuck shut with lint
- Duct run too long or with too many bends
- Stop using the dryer until the exhaust is cleaned, as LG advises.
- Clean the lint filter between every load.
- Unplug the dryer, pull it out, and straighten or replace crushed duct; make sure it is not coiled like a spring.
- Run Air Dry and check outside that the vent flaps open fully with strong airflow.
- Remove lint around the outside hood.
- The code stays after cleaning (have the duct inside the walls professionally cleaned)
- Clothes take more than one cycle to dry
- Gas dryer not heating (do not work on gas parts yourself)
Dryer vents: failure to clean is the leading factor in home clothes dryer fires, according to the U.S. Fire Administration. Lint deep in the wall run or roof vent usually needs a vent cleaning tool.

nP: No current at the heater
nP means no current is detected at the heater, which LG says normally points to the home's electrical supply. Electric dryers need a 240V circuit; if half of it is out, the drum can turn but there is no heat.
Likely causes- A tripped half of the double-pole dryer breaker
- Loose power cord connection
- Outlet not supplying full 240V
- Make sure the power cord is firmly plugged into a grounded 240V outlet that matches the rating plate.
- Turn the dryer's breaker off for at least 10 seconds, then back on.
- If it still shows nP, have a licensed electrician check the outlet. Do not open the outlet or the terminal block yourself.
- The outlet checks out and the dryer still will not heat

tE1 (also shown as tE2, tE3, tE): Thermistor (temperature sensor) error
tE1, tE2 or tE3 means the dryer detected a problem with its thermistor. tE2 often shows in cold conditions or during steam cycles when the duct cools quickly.
Likely causes- Thermistor fault or loose connection
- Cold duct or cold room (tE2)
- Lint or vent restriction
- Unplug the dryer or switch off its breaker, hold Start/Pause for 5 seconds, then restore power and run a cycle.
- For tE2, clean the lint filter and check that the outside vent flaps open fully.
- The code returns after the reset
