GE range / oven codes
Safety: Do not remove panels or work on wiring. A breaker reset is the only power step an owner should do. On a gas range, if you smell gas, do not switch anything on or off; leave and call your gas company from outside.
F2 (also shown as F20): Oven temperature too high
F2 or F20 means the oven temperature went above a preset limit. GE says a trained technician should diagnose fault codes.
Likely causes- Oven temperature sensor fault
- Stuck relay on the control
- Control board fault
- Turn off the oven. Switch off the range's circuit breaker for a minute or two, then restore power.
- If the code returns, leave the breaker off and schedule service.
- Do not use the oven if it overheats.
- The code comes back after the breaker reset
- The oven runs hot or will not shut off
GE recommends keeping the range or wall oven off at the circuit breaker until it is serviced. You can switch the breaker on long enough to use the cooktop, then off again.

Likely causes- Door lock motor or switch fault
- Wiring problem in the lock circuit
- Control fault
- Switch off the breaker for a minute or two, then restore power.
